I can’t believe it’s February! Here’s a recent favorite session with 3 generations of beautiful girls
My last post of 2011! That’s why I decided to share this session. One of my favorite things to do in life (and the reason why I think most of my clients hire me) is to capture relationships, interactions, that one special thing between people that we can’t explain in words but we can see it. I can see it here and I hope you can too. Happy New Year!!!
So many sessions to blog, but I want to share this one first because it was my last shoot this season! I love all my sessions very much, but after a very busy season it’s nice to take a break to recharge and focus on making some much needed images of my own family 🙂
This is a super sweet family who I’ve known for a while. They have sent me many clients (Thank you Dawne 🙂 ) so it was extra special to finally have them in front of my camera.
Mali, another beautiful session!! I love how you capture the spontaneous candid moments… the ones we as parents never want to forget! The first shot is my favorite!! A gorgeous fine art photograph!
I can’t even describe the amazing energy in this family. The minute I walked into their home I knew I had to find a way to do their session in there…. so much love and beauty everywhere in their house…
The joy of being 4 years old. One of my favorite ages to photograph!
At age 7, developing some great skills 🙂
Love the light in the family room
And some family snuggles
A little cooking
My favorite one of the beautiful family
Hello Mali! You’ve NO idea just how much our entire family enjoyed this very special Sunday morning! Your sweet, calm & fun(!) presence made for a lovely flow of energy indeed. Kids were bummed when you left (me too!). Your work is gorgeous and it was truly a blast! Until next time…
We are immensely enjoying your work now up in our home. This age with our children is indeed quite special. You have managed to capture this indescribable, sweet essence for us Mali…and we thank you.
Well, at least sometimes… I’ve known Maria for many years now. I can’t even remember anymore how many years in a row I’ve done her family portraits, but I think 6. Through the years she has become someone I can count on for literally everything! So nice to have a friend like her 🙂 And it’s been really fun watching her family grow, her kids turn into such amazing little people, and how Maria handles it all so gracefully and peacefully. Here are some of this years favorite images:
The little boy:
The middle boy:
The older boy:
The only girl:
And some with her awesome husband John:
And of course a couple of the family:
and our 6 little trouble makers who just had the best time on this warm winter beach day!
It’s true that I enjoy spending time with all families I work with, but I really LOVE this family. They are awesome for many reasons, but mostly because the kids come running to hug me every time they see me, the dad tries to get rid of me as fast as possible every time he sees me, trying to protect his wallet :), and because the mom is so super easy going and fun to be around.
I love this family too!!! Beautiful photos!!!
Mali, Amie is my sister-in-law and ONE DAY I will come to CA just so you can photograph my kids!!!!
Such great portraits! Love the sweet expressions & beautiful light you captured in all of these 🙂
This season has been packet with dozens of family portrait sessions. I love them! But every once in a while its so fun to do something totally different… This morning I got to mix my old love for photography and my new love for yoga 🙂 And I got to hang out with Jana, who is not only stunning beautiful but is also so sweet and fun to be around, and so inspiring to my own yoga practice.
If you like these images, go take a yoga class! You might just fall in love with it too 🙂
Wow, that’s amazing! Just beautiful!
these are amazing my friend. the beauty is in the images, location, and yogi! well done.
beautiful pix! love yoga, love the photographer!
This is SO cool Mali!!!! Love all of these shots.
So so very gorgeous and graceful!
All the way in Europe they searched for “things to do in Orange County” as they planned their vacation in Laguna Beach, and accidently found my website. Lucky me! With my love for travel and different cultures I truly had a great time getting to know this wonderful family. What an experience to photograph them while they experienced Laguna Beach for the first time! And also for the first time I got to engage a child without exchanging one single word that we could both understand. Although by the end of the session my German vocabulary increased from 0 to 2 words: Wasser (water) and tschuss (bye-bye), and that was pretty cool! 🙂
Internet, please bring me more amazing clients from other countries in the world! This was a truly blessed experience.
[…] hired me for a family session during their vacation in Laguna Beach. You can check out that session here. Of course they fell in love with our beautiful town and just recently visited again. Their mom-son […]
I joke that they are the “Brady Bunch Gone Wild”, but they really are some of my favorite people in the world.
There are 2 Moms:
2 Dads:
2 teenage boys:
2 little girls:
and love and kindness to spare:
If when you think of “Family” you think of 2 adults in love raising their children in the best way they can despite of all challenges of everyday life, then this family is as traditional as it gets. Sorry guys, I mean “traditional” in a good way 🙂
Here are some more of my favorites from this session:
Beautiful photos Mali! Just looking at them makes me want to know their story. They look like an amazing family. 🙂
Love the session Mali!! Beautiful, as always!!
love these! such a beautiful family. great work mali!
Great family, amazing people, pictures that capture it all beautifully and very cool post. Love it all!
I stumbled on this looking for a bumpersticker, actually. The imagery depicted here made me weep happily with how beautiful it is. I was steeped in a blog filled with hate and this really uplifted me. Thank you! 🙂
I’m currently writing an essay on this gorgeous portrait for my art history class. Any time I’m having a bad day and need to be reminded that goodness is possible, I look at it. Thank you so much for taking it.
Great pictures. I am interested in using the 5th picture in a brochure. This is a financial brochure educating LGBT individuals about personal finances and considerations they should address as they plan for the future.

Hi,
Im online, looking for a picture of a gay family. I need the picture for a lecture that I will have for children about Human rights. I will use the picture in a way that the kids will have to guess who the children parents are. In that way I can easily teach them that families can be different. Would it be okay to use that picture public where they walk and hold hands?
Please answer
Kind Regards
